Simple Owl - Day Two

The second day of any new workout program is always the hardest.  You’re legs haven’t forgiven you yet for Day One, your healthy food tastes even healthier than before, and doing another push-up seems “inconceivable!”

But with all that healthy eating, Day Two is especially hard because of, well, to put it nicely– the S-word.  That’s right… Sabotage!  You know what I’m talking about, a friend calls you up right when you were about to work out, and offers to buy you lunch (anything your heart desired, from the dollar menu at McDonalds).  Or someone brings in donuts at work (why is it sooo hard to resist free food?).  Or, my favorite, your family just made a fresh batch of your favorite cookies, and everyone is eating them in front of you, with that look on their face that says “You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!”

But I have a plan that works for me.  I know what you’re thinking “he’s gonna say ‘Don’t start!'”  Dangit, am I that predictable?  Actually, I was going to say “Plan for Failure.”  Allow for mistakes, missteps, and miss…uh…America?.  Anyway, make failure part of your plan.  That way when your kids are waving a cookie in your face, you can grab it right out of their hand and say “you mocked me once, never do it again!  I died that day!”  And then push them down a hill while you continue to quote The Princess Bride and eat your cookie, guilt free.

“Veer left!”
